I have always been a fan of putting a “tangible” element in front of people – especially for technology companies. A great example of this is a story I heard from the early days of Amazon.com where they range a bell every time a sale was made.
In a world of bits and bytes it can give employees and others a real way to get a feel for what is actually happening outside the office walls.
I recently came across what Apple did at WWDC with the App store showing a live wall of application purchases showing a wave when an action takes place.
