Tonight Boxee, essentially a media browser built for the 10 foot experience, hosted an event in New York at Webster Hall to which they announced support for Pandora to a very large crowd. (disclosure: Union Square Ventures – my employer – has an investment in Boxee)
I recently spotted Boxee talking to Pandora, publicly, and it is great to see them finally making this announcement.

Avner Ronen, CEO – Presenting to the group at Webster Hall
I have been going out to tech events in the city for the past few years and it was great to see so many people coming out who are passionate something like Boxee. You definitely got a feel for the different use cases that are out there, and the Q and A informed about what these users are thinking about. There was even time to have a contest where one lucky winner walked away with a Mac Mini. Despite making some major announcements and including content providers in the presentation, it is clear Boxee is listening to what users want and continue to iterate on what they vote most important. The Boxee blog has the details and there is great coverage at VentureBeat as well.
Announcements coming out of Boxee tonight can be summarized
1. Support for Pandora
2. Full browser emulation allowing support for video displays via any website
3. Exciting developments in the Beta program launching soon
4. Continued support for Boxee App area and third party developments
5. Advanced API to continue to help developers create what they want to see on the Boxee platform
As an avid user of the service I was excited to hear about the developments, and as someone who gets to follow along with their progress I was excited to come out to the event tonight.
