How Many Gigs Do You Carry?

It is amazing how much data we carry around on a daily basis. This could be anything from storage on your cell phone, flash memory on an MP3 player, a laptop hard drive, or a portable gaming memory card.

This got me thinking about a great way to interact with some of the readers of this blog – asking you the reader; How many gigs do you carry everyday? (feed readers click through to give your answer)

To kick things off let me give you my answer: 32gb

1. 2GB memory card in my PDA
2. 30GB in my iPod

Every so often when I travel with a laptop, USB drive, and my camera gear I definitely go over 100gb in just a carry on bag. Pretty incredible when you consider how expensive storage used to be.

I've always got my 8GB iPhone, I rarely go anywhere without my 120GB MacBook, I usually have my 2GB Canon Ixus, and every once in a while, I'll stick my 2GB USB-stick in the pocket or bring my 500GB LaCie.. Compared to what would fit on the tapes I used to have for my Commodore64, it's pretty f'ing amazing..! Still looking forward to SSD on the laptop, though.. And I won't be completely satisfied before it's at least at around the 120Gigs I've got now..

So basically you are well over 100 and quite soon into the 200gb range. I may have underestimated how much people carry with them with this post…oh well we will see.

    Nice question.
Here's what I carry when I go on vacation:
    - 120GB for the laptop
    - 16G for my Zen
    - 12GB for my Palm
    - 20-30GB SD card for camer
    so 170/180GB…
ah, my wife carries the Ipod..

I think approaching 200gb's is the “norm” for a power business traveler in
2008 but we will soon see this number sky rocket.
