How big is podcasting and podcast advertising going to be?
eMarketer says podvertising is going to be huge based on a niche listening audience to podcasts and channels that would be hard to reach otherwise.

There may be an end in sight to free calling services like FreeConferenceCall.com if the telecoms get their way. See coverage here from GigaOm explaining how the call arbitrage actually works. For those of you who dont know, the system is currently completely legal but leaving some of the big long distance companies to foot the bill.

Great interview with the Capcom Vice President of Marketing Charles Bellfield

Viacom recently signed a deal with Joost for content.

What is Joost?
Joost is a new program that runs on your desktop that streams in video content. Different some sites like youtube and other video sharing sites, Joost brokers content deals and has “channels” of video. The recent news to display content from Viacom is interesting in that thus far Joost has had sparse content. I have been beta testing the system and the quality has been great but I still prefer having my video options in a browser vs. a stand alone app.

What is this important?
This represents the first of many real options that a consumer has to cancel their cable subscription and start consuming content on their computer – including movies, shows, and possibly live content. By using Innertube and Joost you may finally have a way to cut your cable bill completely.

Now we will wait to see how advertising plays a role in this bandwidth intensive free (so far) service.
