Karl Long points us to what perfectly exemplifies the Apple halo effect in my mind:

We all have a tendency to get caught up in the hype of product announcements, but no company seems to be able to capture the hearts and minds of consumers quite like Apple. My friends and family and even those who are not interested in technology or gadgets seem to all want this device. Can anyone actually tell me why? No. Its “just a feeling of wanting it” they try to explain.
Although there are some of those coming out negative, I have rarely seen such positive press and reactions. I think, as always, that there is no magic bullet strategy here but we are seeing the effect of years of good products casting a positive light on what we have yet to actually test for ourselves. To me, thats the best kind of marketing there is.
